I grew up in Texas, went to the University of Kansas for my BA, and completed my MA and PhD at the University of Texas at Austin. I became fascinated with Scottish history while studying abroad there during my sophomore year of college.
When I am not professor-ing, you can find me reading fiction, keeping up with politics, running, and enjoying the beauty of the Shenandoah Valley.
